Highlights
What was the
initial situation?
Autoflug develops and manufactures safety-critical components for the international aviation industry. Every incoming shipment undergoes extensive quality inspections, which vary depending on the material and component. As order volumes increased, the testing workload also grew steadily. The goal was to integrate suppliers more closely into the quality process, streamline incoming goods inspections, and at the same time ensure the aviation industry’s uncompromising quality standards.
Why the decision
Böhme & Weihs?
Böhme & Weihs’ CAQ system had already been in successful use at Autoflug for many years and impressed with its scalability and flexibility. Working together, the solution was expanded so that suppliers automatically receive quality-related inspection orders and their measurement results can be integrated directly into the goods receipt process. The solution was supplemented by the integration of optical measurement technology and secure, encrypted data transmission between suppliers and Autoflug.
How can success
be measured?
Today, suppliers already perform part of the incoming goods inspection before the goods are shipped. The inspection data is transmitted digitally to Autoflug and automatically imported into the CAQ system. This significantly reduces the inspection workload at the receiving desk, allowing employees to focus on more demanding laboratory tests. The upstream incoming goods inspection is expected to shorten processing time by about 20%. By integrating an optical measurement system, the time required for relevant dimensional inspections was further reduced by approximately 30%. At the same time, inspected components reach production faster, which also improves overall lead times.
